Don't want to go back!

Yesterday I tried to visit a sick friend who was out playing, so I ended up at my sister's house. She said she didn't have anything more for the dump, but since I was there . . . We filled the truck halfway with stuff from her house and the rest of the way with stuff from mine and took the leisurely drive on part of the legacy highway to the dump. If you are really good and go to the dump you get a slurpee. On the way to the slurpees we popped in at Lowe's because I needed a little shelf and she needed peg board pegs. Or hooks. Or whatever you call them. I found a little corner shelf, different than what I had pictured but oh! so cute!

We have tried four times to get the air conditioner working. The unit would run, but not the house fan. The house fan would run, but not the unit. Our favorite repairman has been here three times with no success. We were talking in the kitchen after determining that yeah, it seemed to be working, but if the temperature kept going up we could call, when suddenly the unit started to complain. Bruce will be back today with a new motor. I hope this gets resolved before I leave. It's too hot in here.

Dang. I just got a leash burn. Moosie is trying his last hurrah to prove his leadership, and he slicks out joy-running any time the door is opened. Solution, put him on a string. The cute little seven-year-old across the street started "Shay's Dog Walking Adventure Club" and my dogs are charter members. Well, Nelly is a charter member. Winnie usually won't go anywhere if I stay home, but she thought it looked so fun that she asked to join, and Moosie promised to be good, so I let him join, too. Now the puggles are running around the house holding each other's leads or their own and playing "walk the dog" all by themselves.

And, for creatures that can move absolutely silently, galloping kitties are really LOUD.

Have no idea what I was going to write next. All too soon did I brag about not being felled by the end-of-year "cleansing". It hit yesterday in the middle of typing this, just after the club meeting ended. It was miserable. With no air-conditioning I hauled my sorry carcass downstairs, only to be frozen out and sorry when it finally came on. Not my favorite way to spend a free day. An SOS to the sister got something to drink. I was ragingly thirsty but couldn't face water--the only potable liquid in the house. LD brought cute little mini-saltines and more Gatorade, most of which I have drunk already. She also brought some water, since sometimes nothing beats that. A gallon (lit.) of Gatorade, a four a.m. shower and a trip to the chiro have got me back on my feet. I think Nelly swiped my crackers. I can't find them, and it makes me sad. They were good. And funny. Bleh.

I was supposed to head over to school yesterday to let in the artist for Davis County Jr Miss, clean my room, finish last week's payroll and other nefarious carryings on. I must really not want to go back. The artist faired not as well. She had a mini-stroke and might not be able to do the project. Bummer. When I called today to ask the head custodian to let her in, he said they had already cleaned my room. I never get the end of school right. Might have something to do with being trapped in the auditorium the whole time. I am so done with this year! Why can't it be done with me?

Needless to say, I have done NOTHING about packing for the trip. Shall probably do like always and throw way too much into my bag ten minutes before we have to leave. Call me Cleopatra. A vacation seems like an awful lot of work right now. Can I pass? The Baggins is ascendant. Where is all my Tookishness when I need it?
