Perks of the Caretaker

We went voting today. I feel like this was the first time since 1980 that I actually have a say in who is to be president, but once again, my voice is limited. The republicans would not allow one to vote unless one affiliated. I have issues with that. I have issues with the democrats, too, but at least they allow me a say without demanding that I ( Read more... )

I considered crossing party lines too. I'm not terribly happy with any of the republican candidates. I agree... they still haven't got the whole voting thing working yet. They had 3 computers to check people in, and dozens of open voting booths. It was crazy, I had to wait in line for an hour to vote. But at least I voted. I really did want to vote democrat this time. I dunno, there are no candidates that I'm happy with this time. Sounds like the kitties are fun... and adventurous.

It is ridiculous, the best candidates can never win because they are never mentioned in mass media. This election it is Ron Paul, I have only seen him mentioned off the internet once, in the Salt Lake Tribune. This makes it so nobody knows he exists, but he may be the beset candidate. I would have voted but I was stuck on campus all day, stupid Tuesday elections. This election, I know all the candidates I want in the order I want them, or at least the most likely to get the candidacy. Paul -> Obama -> McCain -> Clinton -> Romney. So there is a good chance I will vote for a democrat, and unfortunately, in Utah that generally means throwing my vote away, but instead I may just throw my vote away by writing in Ron Paul. Throw your vote away for the person you support the most.

I'm fine with you voting Democrat as long as it was Obama and not Hillary. As an adopted child, I oppose anyone who is vehemently pro-choice. We should be going pro-family and pro-adoption, not pro-killing unborn children.

And as for losing friends - I oppose any person who thinks politics is a valid reason to end a friendship. A pox on them I say!

At least you got to vote. I wasn't able to, much to my disappointment.

And if it is McCain who is the Republican candidate, I'm seriously thinking about voting for someone else. You can't base your campaign on the mere fact of being a veteran. Soldiers are amazing, but a leader isn't just a soldier, a leader is someone who can persuade others to follow his ideas (and let's hope they are good ones ^_^).
