UICM & staying up later than I should

Mar 29, 2009 22:46

I went to a worship service this afternoon at the warehouse and it was beyond refreshing. Volunteers and anyone else involved with the ministry in our neighborhood were invited, and it was packed. We prayed and sang together for close to an hour when I had to leave because friends were coming over, so I missed the speaker. The atmosphere was incredible - a much different experience with 100 people who mostly know each other from serving together than at Mars Hill where there are 1,000 people at a service where hardly anyone actually knows the pastor on a personal level. I still love Mars, and every church has its problems, but I got the feeling tonight that this is how church should be. There were no racial or denominational lines, just lots of different people singing and reading scripture together, reminding each other of who God is and what he wants to do with us.

Now I'm finishing up some knitting with PBS on again and Little Dorrit is on Masterpiece Theater - has anyone read this? I kind of miss always being in the middle of some old British novel, so maybe I'll look for it at the library.
