Yesterday Josh and I went out to dinner before the Foo Fighters concert to celebrate me being newly debt-free, and right before we left I got a call from Goodwill/Americorps informing me that I got the job I applied for! Earlier in the day I'd spent a couple of hours working on a different job application, one that required the submission of two writing samples that I spent a lot of time editing, so I kind of wish I'd have waited on that. But I hadn't heard anything and assumed Goodwill wasn't hiring me. But they did. My job is with a program that works with inner city "youth' (the program serves people ages 14-21) to help them overcome obstacles that prevent them from obtaining or keeping a job.

So we parked on Monroe Center and ate at Friday's so that we could walk to the arena and have a sweet parking spot; but in order to get said spot we figured we'd have to be there pretty early, so that entailed a lot of waiting around. We ran into a guy waiting to enter the arena who used to be among the crowd who came for hot dogs on Wednesday nights, and we ended up having tickets in the same section. We recognized each other instantly. He has a job now, but still seems to be mentally affected by his time in the military; I remember that subject coming up constantly on Wednesday nights, but his demeanor seems a lot more mellow now. We didn't really talk anymore once we got inside because our seats were several rows apart. Josh was hungry again got a six-dollar "pizza coin" and proceeded to draw a comic on the box for the next hour and a half or so; basically right up until just before the Foo Fighters' set.

There were two opening bands, both of which were not terribly interesting to me, especially since I wanted to save my ears for the band I actually wanted to see. But I was kind of impressed by how on-time everything was; the first band started just before 7:30 and the Foo Fighters came on just after 9. That turned out to be a really good thing, because they played for over two hours! Despite Dave Grohl being not as cool as I remembered, I was really happy I finally got to see them live, after missing every GR show they've done over the past few years. They played every song I wanted to hear. At one point a circular stage descended to the back end of the arena from the ceiling and the entire band came to it via a walkway that split the floor in half, and they played an acoustic set there. Afterwards we saw Echo and tried to avoid drunk people, which was a success.

I just ate cereal for breakfast with blueberries in it. It was good, but every time I drink milk, I get a severe stomach ache that lasts about two minutes, and then I'm fine. Mild lactose intolerance, or something else?
