heyy, my summer girl

The Dan Band is awesome. Go see them. Now.

Yesterday was an extremely busy day. In the morning I went to Saturday Meals with my parents. I chopped onions, made salad, and wrapped utensils. It was kind of slow. Seems that homeless people have more options in the summer and don't eat there every week.

In the afternoon Jenny drove me and friends into the city for the afternoon. We met up with Brett there. We saw a genuine Florida 2000 election voting kiosk (woah- all I have to say about the election after seeing that rediculous thing is "no wonder..."). Cori debated the merits of buying underwear on the internet but we talked her out of it. The store American Apparel is sketchy. We decided to be suave and cosmopolitan and sit at an outdoor table at Tealuxe and watch the world go by. I had ice tea and crumpets with strawberry jam and Devonshire cream. Tine had a close encounter with A.C. Milan. The incense inside Condomworld almost brought on a migraine in Laura. I liked the store So Good Jewelery except that there was always an employee standing approximately four inches away and trying to be intimidating with body language. We sat on the couch at Urban Outfitters and saw a lot of men with pink shirts. I read a book called "Dick and Jane speak Yiddish."

Then I met up with Bill and parted ways with my friends. Bill and I went to Whiskey's (across from the Hynes) for dinner and there was an extremely long wait for our burgers. But I said (repeatedly) "everything will work out" and it did. We got to the Paradise while the opening band was still playing. We got a good place to stand on the second level.

The Dan Band was great. I had so much fun. Bill is 6'2" so he stood on the floor and drank 5 - 7 beers while I stood behind him on the bench to see over everyone's heads. It was as if we were on stage with the band.

My favorite songs that the band did were an En Vogue medely and "Total Eclipse of the Heart." I was going to buy their CD on the way out but there were too many people at the merch counter and I was about to fall asleep. I got home at about 1 AM.
