Happy Halloween and death to ABC!!!
Halloween: Not celebrating it here in Oz but Happy Halloween nonetheless to those celebrating it.
Good Game: Also, I was watching Good Game (a Australian show about Videogames) last night on Friday since I didn't have the time to on Monday, they've got this new presenter called Hex who happens to be a girl. Not that her sex really mattered that much since she was a pretty good presenter and there's not many female gamers represented on the show anyway. Of course, that left me wondering where the fuck is Junglist. Bajo said towards the end that Junglist apparently decided to take a more 'behind the scenes role' and Hex hence became a permanent member of the team. I wouldn't say I had anything against Hex replacing Junglist since her work on the show with Bajo was enjoyable and I liked her personality as well (Bajo/Hex RPS?) but the big question remained is why did Junglist decide to sign up for this series and decide to give up a hosting role half-way through just for a 'behind the scenes' role.
Well, quick browsing of the net came up with the real reason that quickly shattered any acceptance I had of this replacement of Junglist with Hex that I had beforehand. The real reason? The fuckwits at ABC decided that in order to get 'mass appeal', they had to replace a perfectly capable male presenter with a girl. LOL, sexist to both males (we're sacking you cause you're a guy) and females (we're hiring you so sex sells)...I never quite thought that was possible. I think the ABC deserves an award for this...Idiot of the Year that is. I don't know about you, but firing Junglist because they wanted to hire a girl for mass appeal has to be the most fucked up decision that even tops them using Amanda Duthie as a scapegoat. Or in the words of ABC 'Jeremy Ray's performance issues were severely impacting the quality and smooth-running of the show, as well as making life difficult for the rest of the team.' That's right, Junglist was having 'performance issues', I'm not so sure about you but last time I checked his work on the show worked perfectly with Bajo.
And please, I beg of the Good Game fandom do NOT TAKE THIS OUT ON Stephanie Bendixsen (Hex), it's not her fault that her bosses are a bunch of sexist slobs and a bunch of douches. Instead take this out on the ABC for making this decision in the first place. Another thing that pisses me off is how unceremonious Junglist has been sent off from the site, the blog for Jung and Bajo has now been instantly renamed with a new photo called Bajo and Hex's blog. And here's what I don't get? If they wanted a female presenter, why not put Hex on there alongside Bajo and Junglist?
If you can spare a minute or so, please help Bajo out and get your friends to do so as well. And finally in short...
