Dr Who Thoughts, midway through the new ep--
+I find it hard to really be scared of the stone angels' premise (vs. their presentation). They displace you in time. This is a show about TIME TRAVEL. Why can't the Doctor just go pick them up? We[ve already seen River send a message through time to him.
I note that they're keeping what exactly the angels do to you in brief background mentions here to keep the fear up. Much more focus on poor Angel-Bob and whatever they're doing to Amy.
+This is the Aliens to Blink's Alien. Not straight horror, horror-themed military scifi.
+On which note, leaving out the angels themselves, which make no sense but are established canon, this is definitely the hardest scifi of the Moffat era. He generally writes by image and emotion, not things making sense, with the science as a stand in for magic or a DEM or both, but this is real world-building and semi-logical solutions; playing with directional gravity, the forest on the spaceship, the clerics.
+River Song is still a Mary Sue and I still don't care about her.
+AUGH AUGH WHY IS SHE COUNTING.
EDITS!
+I don't understand the shipping. Every time he kisses her forehead I see more "kindly granddad" in it. He actually referred to the conversation they had when she was SEVEN this time!
