So its been a while since I've posted anything here. I probably say that almost everytime I do post something. Let's see what have I been up to? We'll I got a job working at a bar which is actually pretty cool. I like the people I work with so that is good. I hate smelling like smoke when I go home every night, but I make pretty good money so I can't complain too much. I like it better than the law firm. I hated/still hate those assholes. Besides that I have semi-formed a plan for my life. I was planning on teaching English in Japan, but I've decided to go to South Korea instead. I am talking to some recruiters and trying to find a good job. One of my former roomates, Ju Hyun, is from Korea and one of her friends recruits English teachers so I'm waiting for her to get me in touch with this person. I am wanting to teach in schools in the GEPIK program because they pay the best and have the most vacation days. Google it if you are curious. I am really excited because I plan to go over there in August/late July and that is a few months away.
What is awesome about teaching in Korea is:
-they pay for roundtrip airfare
-they pay for your apartment
-the cost of living is very cheap there even in Seoul where I'll be
-I'll make like $2K a month on top of living rent free
-A lot of times you are treated like a celebrity and this can be a good or bad thing, but its still kind of cool
-South Korea has the fastest internet connection speeds in the world and is very high-tech
-I will hopefully learn a 2nd language like I've always wanted to
-I can travel around to other countries close by like China, Thailand and you can even take a ferry to Japan
-I can go to the DMZ hahaha
-I can hopefully lose some weight eating Korean food (they eat more veggies than any other country)
-I like Korean food
-Hangul (Korean alphabet) is a lot easier to learn especially compared to other asian languages like Japanese- they have 3 alphabets!
-I have some connections since one of my bff's is from there
-I can save a lot of $$$
-Get international experience, which could help with getting a job in the future in the fashion industry especially if I work for a company that has products made in Korea
-Ride out the recession with a secure job
You only live once and I want to experience the world and do something unique. Its so weird to think about how big the Earth is and I feel sorry for people that have lived in one place their whole life. Also there is a big community of English teachers and I could probably get a group together to travel to other places with. At the least its one year out of my life where I'll have a secure job and not be bored to death at a desk job somewhere. Things like going to the grocery store will be an adventure there and I am looking for a unique experience to cure my ho-hum current life.
