Well, you all probably know by now that the state government is closed. Thankfully, I'm not considered "essential", so I didn't go in to work yesterday, not to mention the fact that I didn't work after Wednesday afternoon last week, due to the flooding. God hates Trenton! It's a little unnerving, because I'm not being paid for these days off - not good. At this point, there is no real indication that there is going to be any resolution any time soon, although I think that the shutdown is not going to last much longer than tomorrow - because that's when the casinos shut down. The state will lose over 2 million a day when that happens.
It's time for me to find a new line of work, I think - because the budget is so screwed up, this sort of situation is probably going to happen every year from now on in.
Alternate route for certification to teach it is. I took practice praxis exams online for English and Social Studies - got every question correct on the English, missed one on Social Studies.
It's a sign.
I had always fought against the idea of teaching, largely because most of my friends who are teachers (read: Loeffler) hate it intensely. Then, of course, I met Erich. He is a German teacher, and he LOVES it. Has taught for 25 years in the same school district, and just flourishes. He, of course, has started this not-so-subtle campaign to get Bohne teaching. I must say, the steady paycheck and the summer vacation appeal to me immensely. Erich, however, is playing dirty in this campaign. His son, Paul, came up to me a few weeks ago, and makes the big, round, puppy eyes at me, and says "I wish you were my teacher". . . not really fair.
food for thought.
