Britannia

So, earlier this week my roommate told me that he was planning on playing Britannia this week at our place. I'd always heard about it through friends who've played it, and was definitely interested. Since the night it was planned for was my night off, I agreed readily.

My roommate held a little practice session the night before, just to familiarize myself with the rules. That way we could get playing a lot faster when we got to the real game. After that, we decided to play Axis & Allies. I got the newer version of the game last year, and it was quite a bit different. Not only did it have Destroyers and Artillery like many of the newer versions, but they had nation abilities. For example, when ever the Germans were in a battle using tanks, if they were able to win the battle in one round, they get to move the tanks one space. I lost that game, I realized what I should have done after the fact

We ended up playing for about 5 or 6 hours last night. I was able to win the game on my first time out. My strategy was simply, hold what I got, make bargains as much as possible, and don't expand any more then I need to. It seemed to work fairly well, though I do have to admit a certain amount of luck being involved. Overall it was fairly fun, I'd definitely play it again.
