Countdown

I'm a little late with this so you're probably all aware of it already. But in case you're not...

The new series of Doctor Who has an actual name, in the way of Torchwood: Children of Earth, so rather than being series 13, it's Doctor Who: Flux. It's only 6 episodes long but will have one story across all of them. It's more like the classic Who series which had one story running over several episodes. The Trial of a Time Lord had one story running over the entire series so this isn't the first time Doctor Who has done this.

The BBC released a teaser trailer on Saturday:

Although this longer trailer has been available on the Doctor Who YouTube channel since July. The teaser trailer doesn't give me huge thrills, mainly because of the Sontarans as I find them to be rather meh. The Weeping Angels are obviously super scary but that's an odd combination.

The new series starts on the 31st October which is a Sunday, so it's carrying on in that timeslot rather than Saturday evenings. There's no details yet as to what time it's going to be on at, but Thirteen's episodes have been on at 6.30pm, earlier than the usual 7.30pm of previous Doctors.

There's going to be the usual festive special this year, on New Year's Day again. After that there's going to be another special early in 2022 - I'm guessing that it will be on at Easter, mainly because that's a suitably festive occasion. Also one of the Tenth Doctor's final specials was on at Easter. The final special which will feature the regeneration is going to be shown later in 2022 as part of the BBC's Centenary celebrations. The BBC was founded in October 1922 so I presume the celebrations will take place in October. And then we'll have the Fourteenth Doctor and Russell T Davies, and heading towards Doctor Who's 60th anniversary! Yay.
