Tonight's special is omg with a side of yum

It's been a while since I teased you all with pictures of yummy food what I have made, hasn't it? Well, I've been trying some different recipes recently so you won't have to wait any longer.

Napkins at the ready, folks, and let's tuck in!

Chicken traybake with baby herby potatoes
This was something that I pretty much threw together in a hurry. I chopped up some pepper and onion with chicken and added some cherry tomatoes still on the vine. I sprinkled it all liberally with some basil, oregano and olive oil, and put it in the oven. I had some baby herby potatoes from Aldi which went very nicely with it and then some broccoli. It was actually really tasty! A definite winner there.

Pilau rice
One of my staples and my mother's favourite, pilau rice with chicken. I'm planning on making it again this weekend :)

Turkey and egg fried rice
This was supposed to be made with beef mince but I don't eat beef so I made it with turkey mince instead. It was reasonably quick and easy, and it made a lot! It was quite nice but it was missing something and I wasn't sure what it was. I'd definitely make it again though.

Chickpea fusilli with golden chicken
This recipe was taken from Jamie Oliver's 15 Minute Meals book and I can tell you, the timing was WAY off. The chicken was nice, I would possibly make that again. I'd got some chickpea fusilli which I was trying for the first time and it was an interesting texture. The tomato sauce was quite strong though, and rather overpowered the rest.

Ginger and miso stir-fry
The photo in the book looked really yummy and as we have a lot of stir-fries, I thought that I really had to try it. This looks absolutely nothing at all like the picture in the book! It was quite tasty but there was a lot of faff involved so it took a while to make. I think I'd make it again though, I mean, I bought a jar of miso paste specially for it and it was expensive stuff!

Paprika chicken
I found this recipe in an old book and as it had been a long time since I'd last made it, I thought I'd give it a try. I had to put extra paprika in because it was rather tasteless but it didn't come out too badly. It suggested serving it with rice but that was a bit weird, it didn't really go. I think it would have been better with potatoes.

Chicken chilli
One of the few times that I went to the Cheesecake Factory, I had their White Chicken Chilli which was amazing. I rather hoped that this would be as good. It wasn't because their chilli has like a million ingredients, but it was really yummy all the same! The recipe said not to serve it with rice as the cannellini beans were filling enough and it really was. I was stuffed!

Jamaican rice and peas with tofu
This was... interesting. I've had tofu before but not often and it's not something I'd awfully keen on. It wasn't too bad. The rice part of the dish was very dry, there was no liquid to cook the beans so they seemed to fry rather than boil, and so they came out really hard. They weren't at all nice. The coconut with the rice was rather similar to a recipe I have for coconut chicken and rice which is much easier to make and a lot tastier so I won't be making this again. It was good to give it a try anyway.

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm starving now! If anyone wants recipes, let me know.
