Christmas Cake 2017

It's been a month since I made the Christmas cake and in the meantime it has been well fed with quite a lot of whisky. It's only a few days now till the big day so it was time to get it finished off. ( Cake of yumminess )

That's very elegant, those stars are so classy. And such a smooth finish on the fondant.. i think marmalade will work well as the "glue", not surpised you can't get through a jar of apricot jam, its not a flavour I much care for in jam (though peach is rather nice, if hard to get hold of..)/ I hope its as tasty as it looks after all the care and attention there :)

Thank you! It's a lot more minimalist and monochromatic than I've usually done. Apricot is such an odd flavour anyway. I've not seen peach anywhere but I imagine that might not be too bad.

It stands out well compared to the designs one usually sees, definitely :) I'm hooked on the St Dalfour peach jam - well, they call it fruit spread as its made with fruit and fruit juice not sugar so technically can't be marketed as a jam - and its delightful :)

Yes, and on rolls and even on ice-cream, yum :)
