Christmas Cake 2017

Dec 21, 2017 19:38

It's been a month since I made the Christmas cake and in the meantime it has been well fed with quite a lot of whisky. It's only a few days now till the big day so it was time to get it finished off. ( Cake of yumminess )

it does look good, but you made it "1" month before you need it??????

I know, I was really late with it. I completely forgot about not having the right flour otherwise I would have made it at the end of October/beginning of November.

Christmas cake gets better as it ages so it needs to be made in advance.. I've never been that organised but its the traditional way :)

Traditionally the Christmas cake is made in September to give it time to mature and for all the flavours to come out. And all the whisky you pour over it over the next few months keeps it moist.

It's a long time in advance, I suppose that makes it one less thing to do when Christmas gets closer!
