I've been watching the new series Timeless recently and the last episode was on this week. The series itself ended up being completely different to what I expected and while it wasn't omg-amazing, it was certainly enjoyable enough. However, it did seem to have more bad points than good ones. The main plot took ages to get anywhere, it seemed to be dragged out and just going round in circles for a while. And so many plot holes and lack of follow through each time that history changed! It quickly became less 'protect history' and more 'get Flynn'. The show couldn't quite decide what to do with Flynn anyway; one minute he's the bad guy, next minute he's not quite so bad because they understand what he's doing and why, then they're working together but then they're not and he's definitely still the bad guy... maybe, I think?! There were several minor storylines that seemed to be mentioned briefly but then dropped. It was a bit of a mess in some ways but if you didn't think about it too much, it was reasonably entertaining. I certainly liked seeing all the period settings and costumes. The cast is pretty good too, I actually think Goran Višnjić is one of the better members and Paterson Joseph is always pretty solid anyway. The character names though, they are pretty painful and they sound weird. Lucy Preston, Wyatt Logan and Rufus Carlin. They're references to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure: Bill S Preston, Ted 'Theodore' Logan and Rufus, played by George Carlin. Seriously? *facepalm*
I had wondered what the last episode was going to involve because it seemed clear that they were going to eliminate Rittenhouse but if they did that, it seemed likely there would be no further series. It certainly looked like that's the way it was heading, except for the last five minutes when they decided to crowbar in a cliffhanger on the off-chance it might get renewed. And as of yet, I don't think there's any information one way or the other. I think it would be a shame if it didn't get a second series - more than that might be pushing it, unless it really pulls its socks up - even if just to answer the question of who Flynn is!
