Logan

I went to see Logan this afternoon. I very much enjoyed it. Biggest thing I was disappointed about was the complete lack of the Deadpool teaser thing! I was really looking forward to seeing that too. I wonder if it was just being shown in the US ( Read more... )

I didn't think it was too violent or that he swore too much (seems in character for him to swear), but I did think it was funny how much violence and swearing there was in like the first five minutes, because it just made me think "Dang, they were sure happy to get that R rating!"

I liked the bullet situation because it was so well set up, but I didn't quite understand why it wasn't just like a normal bullet to X-24, since he still has healing factor, doesn't he? Probably you can answer this for me, haha.

I would love to have more X-23 with Dafne Keen in the role--I thought she was fabulous. I really liked Logan so much and I'm really glad he finally got a good film to go out on!

It was weird to have Charles swearing though, that did seem rather out of character.

X-24 isn't in the comic books, he was created purely for the film. I don't remember anything about whether X-24 has a complete adamantium skeleton as Logan does or not - I think they said Laura just has adamantium claws so it seems likely that that applies to X-24 too. In that case, the adamantium bullet doesn't make any sense at all. To be honest, it doesn't make any sense anyway - adamantium is strong against itself too, otherwise Logan and X-24 would be slicing through each others claws!

Ah, so I was right that the adamantium bullet thing just doesn't make sense! It was set up like a silver bullet for a werewolf, but it doesn't really fit with the Wolverine family.

In the comic books, the only way to kill Wolverine without his adamantium is to severe his head completely from his body so you'd think that would apply for X-24. Maybe that's what they were sort of going for. It's comic book physics, isn't it? It doesn't hold up when you investigate it too closely! But it was very silver bullet like when there was no real reason for it to be.

Of course I don't know the original comics so I don't know how Logan died there. But yes - being killed by a tree is a bit ... weird.
I liked Laura ... I hope there will be more films with her. And I'd like to know what happens with the other kids as well.

I read a review where it made a parallel between Logan and Jesus, both being nailed up on a tree which I did think was rather pushing it a bit! Did you ever see the film The Lost Boys where the main vampire gets staked at the end with a sharpened fence post? It rather reminded me of that in a way, but quite a lot less dramatic.

I think the kids from Logan are probably going to be the focus in the future. From what I can gather, the whole X-Men franchise is moving towards the New Mutants, and it seems like the current roster of characters is going to end.

I'd heard rumours about the Deadpool teaser too and was so disappointed it wasn't in the showing we saw

Oh, you didn't get it either? Very disappointing! I haven't seen any other Brits saying they didn't see it so I wasn't sure if it was just Vue being annoying as usual or if it is only being shown in the US. Have you seen the teaser since?

Our cinema is an Odeon. So it's not even cinema-specific it seems

No, I've still not seen it

Well, that does answer that question. It must only be available in the US then. Considering it was in lieu of having an end credits scene, that's rather disappointing.
