Do you know what it's like when you've found something that you really really want but either it's too expensive or you have no need or use for it, but then you get it and it's amazing and wonderful, and then a little way down the road, the bloody thing gives up on you?

I had been eyeing up the Ducti Utility bag for quite some time but couldn't justify buying it because it was £30 which I thought was a ridiculous price for a bag and I didn't really need it. Particularly as it was a shoulder/cross-body bag and I tended to use backpacks to avoid having a lot of weight all on one shoulder. But anyway, I managed to find a good reason for buying it and I was very pleased with it. It was such a sturdy bag and I loved all the little compartments it had. I used it quite a bit, on days out or in town. You can see it in the pictures hobbitblue took when we met up in Liverpool a few months ago ( here).

I got it out the other day for some reason and when I opened it up, I noticed that the fastener on the inside looked a bit loose. Closer inspection showed that the lining around the fastener has ripped to such a huge extent that it's barely hanging on. Although the bag itself is a very sturdy canvas, the lining is only a thin nylon and obviously, it's not been able to stand up to the strain. I am rather annoyed by this - I've only had it 2 years and like I said, it wasn't cheap. I did consider contacting the company to complain but I have had it 2 years even if it's not really been used all that much in that length of time. I'm not good at complaining, I'd be far too polite about it and it'd be more like a "just thought you should know, my bag ripped a bit, don't mean to bother you, byeeee." They don't have these bags on their UK site any more (which is why I had to link to the US one above) so I couldn't even ask for a new one or a discount off a replacement. Not that I'd buy another one to be honest with you.

I think the absolute worst thing about it all, is that I've had to go looking for a new bag. I quite like this one...

too much numpty business
