When I finished my college course, I was very surprised to find out that I'd won Student of the Year for graphic design, and even more surprised to find out that it came with a £10 gift card for Amazon. I added it to my account on there and then tried to find something to buy with it! I wanted it to be something good, sort of - well, not symbolic as such, but you know what I mean. Something meaningful and befitting a graphic design award.
I couldn't really find anything that seemed suitable and then I didn't buy anything off Amazon for quite a while so eventually I completely forgot about the gift card. A few weeks ago I found out about a book called
Doctor Who: Impossible Worlds which is about the art and design of the programme. I thought it sounded really interesting and then I realised I could use my gift card on it! So I went off to Amazon to order it (or rather pre-order it as it's not released until October) but it didn't give me the option to use the gift card. And that's how I found out that the damn thing had expired.
I am rather annoyed with myself about that. I thought they lasted longer! I should have just bought any random thing just so it wasn't sitting there slowly expiring and then give myself a £10 note in exchange. Grrrr.
