It's not on the list!

I took the mother shopping this morning. Our very old microwave is looking worryingly past it - the trim round the door at the corner has parted company so it's started to drip condensation onto the worktop and there's a definite breeze coming from it. There's a few other things in the house that are rather on their last legs so it was decided to see about getting some replacements in the January Sales.

Our list contained:
* microwave
* kettle
* vacuum cleaner
* pillows
* new coat for mother

We came back with:
* pillows
* new coat for me and mother
* Christmas cards
* Christmas crackers
* gluten-free breakfast cereal

I hadn't intended on getting a new coat at all, even though the one I've got is 3 years old and has gold paint all down one sleeve from the college bus (someone had spilt paint on the inside of the bus and I didn't notice so when I sat there, it got all down the sleeve of my coat). I just happened to see this parka because it was a red coat in a sea of dark blue and black ones, and I like brighter colours, especially in the winter. It's a good length, although that's mostly down to being shorter than most. It should have been £55 but it was reduced to £20! It was just too good a bargain to pass up really so I got it.

We've at least worked out which hoover and microwave we want, it's just a case of seeing if I can fit them in my car!

mother, whoops there i go spending money again
