Surgery is tomorrow. Do I look like I'm ready?
It's a hell of a lot of stuff just for one night! The info I got at my pre-op gave the following list of things to take:
- All current medication including tablets, inhalers, nose drops, eye drops, etc
- Nightwear, underwear, dressing gown and slippers
- Toiletries and hand towel
- Wet wipes to clean hands before meals
- pads or panty liners
- pen
- Hard glasses case if necessary
I've also got out shorts that I will be wearing for travel there and back; t-shirt for coming back in and a shirt in case I can't put on the t-shirt and velcro shoes for easy fastening. I took the shoes for my top surgery so I'm amused that I'm wearing them for this too.
I'm not allowed to take any valuables so no Nexus and mobile phones aren't allowed at all either. There's a bedside phone facility which you have to pay for instead. It also includes TV so it's annoying that I'll have to pay to watch it. I'm taking two magazines (Wonderpedia and Doctor Who) and a puzzle book so hopefully they'll keep me entertained for long enough.
All I have to do now is wait until 8pm when I have to phone the unit to find out when I need to arrive and when I have to stop eating and drinking. I have no idea what time my surgery even is and I don't like that at all. I'm scared enough as it is, and that isn't helping.
