When I had all the reaction issues from Testim a couple of months ago which resulted in my switching to Testogel, Iffy told me to have bloods done after 6 weeks to see what my T levels were like. Unfortunately, that timing made it the end of the year and I couldn't get an appointment with one of the nurses at my doctor's surgery at all. The main problem is that the bloods have to be taken 4-6 hours after putting the gel on and that makes it between 12-2pm. I managed to get an appointment in the first week of January and when I saw the nurse, she said that I really should have come in the morning because their bloods are collected at 10.30am. I explained why I couldn't do that and her response was that I'd just have to get up earlier to put the gel on. Yeah, right! Between 4-6am? Yeah, I can see that happening.
As it turned out, the sample couldn't be used so I had to have it redone and my doctor's surgery suggested that I went to the hospital instead. I live in between two towns and each one has its own hospital: A is much larger and closer while B is smaller and further away. I'd already gone to A and be told in no uncertain terms that they didn't do this kind of blood test there. When I relayed this information to the surgery, I just got told that I shouldn't have gone to that hospital anyway as all of their patients are covered by B. First time anyone's ever told me that.
Anyway, I went off to the hospital on Monday. It's much further away and costs over £5 return ticket on the bus - I tried using my college pass last time and it only covered me half-way so I had to pay £5 for the other half. I dread to think how much it would have been without my pass! It's much quicker to drive but there's not much parking and it's £3. I decided to go in the car anyway and found that the car park was mostly empty! I was in and out very quickly, and had no problems from the nurse saying they didn't do that kind of blood test. Actually I was only in 20 minutes and as the car park gives 30 minutes free to find a space, I was able to leave without spending any money!
Well, I finally got the results. My last T levels on the Testim were really low, it was down to 8.2 which is the lowest it's ever been. My T levels on the Testogel are 5.1. I didn't think they could get any worse after the 8.2 result. It might explain why I've been feeling completely unmotivated to do anything much lately and generally out of sorts. I'm just beginning to feel like I'm never going to get my T dose right, it's been 7 years now and it's never been right yet.
