I had an appointment at the doctor's earlier on this evening to see about getting a prescription for Testogel. Thankfully the itching finally began to ease off this weekend and today I've not needed to have any piriton or hydrocortisone cream at all. Yay. That was such a relief, I was getting a mite concerned that it did not seem to be going away.
After being kept waiting for half an hour because she was running late, the doctor checked how the itchy was going and asked me if I wanted to try Testogel. Um, yes please? Once I'd got the prescription sorted, I thought that was it but then I was suddenly subjected to a lengthy lecture on Why You Need To Have A Smear Test. I had one a few years ago which was pretty much hell on toast and made even worse by the fact that I had to go back and have it redone. It's not something I particularly want to go through again. At the end of the lecture, the doctor asked how I felt about having it done to which I said no, and the immediate response was "Why not?" And that resulted in Why You Need To Have A Smear Test the Remix. The only consolation was watching the doctor tie herself up in knots trying to be inclusive and not refer to me as female or a woman. Although she said at one point that women who have sex with women are at the same risk at women who have heterosexual sex so I think she's under the impression that I fall into the former category there. At the end, she said she understood how it could be uncomfortable both physically and mentally. Really?! It sure didn't seem that way to me.
Anyway, once I managed to escape from there, I went off to the chemist. I didn't expect that they'd have the Testogel in stock seeing as it's only a small village chemist and they've always had to order the various forms of T I've used over the years. I was kept waiting for ages and when my name was finally called, I was most surprised to be given a bag. Once I got outside, I checked the contents and sure enough, it was a box of Testim. The really ridiculous thing was that the pharmacy label even said on it 'Testogel sachets' so that obviously had been well checked by the pharmacist! *eyeroll* I was kept waiting again until one of the assistants finally came out and said that they'd have to order it and it would be in tomorrow morning after 11 which was what I'd expected. So it's going to be Wednesday before I get to start using it. And then in 6 weeks time, I get to have a blood test to see what my T levels are like. Whoohoo.
