Regression? Yes, please.

When James May did his recent pimp my Lego show where he used it to make a lifesized house, I've had the urge to get mine out of the attic. It's been up there for far too long. I relegated it there when I no longer had space for it in my bedroom and also when I thought I was too old for playing with such things. However, I have come to realise that you're really never too old for that, and besides, it's a great way to relax and relieve stress. Or at least, replace crappy work stress with the kind of stress you get when trying unsuccessfully to unstick two bricks.

The thing is, I have quite a lot of Lego and when I was about 7 or 8, my step-father made me a wooden box to keep it in. It's quite a big box - which is why I needed space for it in my bedroom and also why getting it out of the attic would be a pain in the arse. As it was, the only way I could shift it was to completely empty out all the pieces first. That was fun! At least when it was empty, I could give it a bit of a clean and get rid of all the dust that was hiding at the bottom!

It took me pretty much all yesterday afternoon to make space for it in my bedroom, bring the box down and then clean and sort it out. It looks so nice in my room though, and as it's painted blue, it matches the colour scheme too! I took some photos of it so you can see how large it is and the amount of Lego in it.

The padded bit on top is a seat. It's 14½" high and 26½" wide. And yes, those are Tom & Jerry stickers on the front.
If you're interested, they say Hirsch Lolly which is a German sweet company but I have no idea what product they're from.

It has compartments for all the different kinds of bricks. There's also a removable section that sits on top of these.

And there's all the Lego! It doesn't seem like much because of the angle I had to use to get it all in the shot.
Those two books are very old and well-used instruction/ideas books.

Of course, after all of that, I was too knackered to actually build anything! But then this morning, it occurred to me what the first thing was that I should make. So this afternoon, I set to work. And then I was so pleased with my construction that I took some photos of it, complete with suitable background and poses.

I know, I know, it's not the best TARDIS but it was the best I could make with the bricks I had. Yes, it looks like it has a drawbridge rather than doors and the roof is a bit weird but I am a bit impressed with the windows. And OMG! Is that an alien hand behind the Doctor, reaching for his shoulder?!

The TARDIS lands on the Planet of the Long Grass. Look at it, it must be waist-high at least!

Attack of the Twig Monster! The Doctor is totally calm though.
It looks reminiscent of Classic Who, the set landscape has a look of a quarry about it...

I rather like that last picture. I may have, um, corrected the colour a bit. *cough*And maybe added a bit of text.*cough* All in all, a most productive weekend, I think.

doctor who, photies, lego
