Reasons to be cheerful

I had to get up at half past seven this morning to go down to Manchester for a staff training/planning meeting. Half past seven! On a Saturday! It shouldn't be allowed. Despite this, it was still quite a good day. So, here is a list of good stuffs in bullet form:
  • I showed my boss and colleagues what I'd done on the website so far and they all loved it. I said how I'd made up all the buttons and the graphic, and how the graphic contained links to other parts of the site, AND how it had meta tags so it would show up in search engines. My boss said she was so glad that I knew what I was doing so that was really nice.
  • I even got paid for my time at the meeting today! It would have gone well over my hourly limit for the week, so it's nice that I get paid for that extra time I've done.
  • Freebies! I'd sent off for a couple of freebies at the beginning of December but I'd completely forgotten about them, so they were a nice surprise in the post. I got a free sample of Jordan's Fruity Fibre granola which also has a coupon for 50p off a box of the stuff. I also got a little torch from the RAC. It's about the size of a credit card so it fits all nicely in my wallet, but it doesn't have a on-off button as such; there's a button and the torch comes on for as long as you press it and goes off when you release it. It's really bright too! I've put it in my wallet but I'm wary of inadvertently blinding myself when I take it out off my pocket. Mind you, that could be a good anti-theft device.
  • More freebies to come! I got an e-mail from LibraryThing to say that I was the lucky recipient of another book as part of their Early Reviewer programme. It's A Night Out With Robert Burns but when I got the e-mail, my first thought was, "Why did I request that?!" However, when I read the blurb, I thought that it actually sounds quite good so it might not be too bad. If nothing else, it will look impressive on my bookshelf, right next to my copy of Beowolf.
  • Finally, I realised what I could buy with my £20 Smiths gift voucher. I got a A-Z of Lancashire a couple of years ago and I wondered if it was in need of replacing. When I checked the date and found that it was from 2003, I thought that would be a definite yes. When I was looking at the maps in Smiths, I noticed that they also had one for the whole of the North of England and that was only £5. It would come in really handy, because that's the area I tend to travel around it mostly so I got that as well. I was looking at it when I got home tonight, and I found that it has a map of Manchester Airport at the back, so that will definitely come in useful!
And I think that's everything.

i get paid for this?!, fun stuff in the post, of books and comic books, e-mails and letters and stuffs
