Weekend-ness

I've had a fairly quiet weekend and managed to do 2 of the 3 things that I wanted to so that wasn't too bad.

Yesterday morning I went out to get my hair cut and only just managed to escape with hair. I asked the bloke to take about an inch and a half off the top which should have left me with two inches or so. I don't know what form of measurement he was using but I came out with a haircut that even the military would think severe. After that I had to go off to the Post Office to get them to do the Verify bit of the CRB form for my Trans support worker job which has been in progress since April. The woman that served me had no idea what to do so that was fun. She had to call over someone else to help her which meant that they were both poring over the form and I was getting rather anxious as it had my birthname information on it. I don't think they saw it so that was okay but it still took ages to get the whole thing sorted. It's nice that Post Offices are getting more things to do than just sell stamps and tax discs - because that's obviously all they do - but it would be nicer that there were more Post Offices around to do them. And staff that know how.

I didn't get to watch the Red Sox game last night which was very disappointing. I'm sure when I checked, the game started at 4.27pm ET but when I went to have a look last night, it was 8pm instead. That's 1am BST and there's no telling how long the game is likely to go on for so it was too late. At least they went on to win without my support which is very good of them. It's now 3 games each and tonight is the final deciding game to see whether the Red Sox or the Rays goes on to the World Series. Of course, this game starts at 8pm ET too. Grrrr. I want to watch it, damnit! Stupid time difference!

I played some Guitar Hero 3 today and managed to finish the game on Easy. I beat the Devil in the last battle first time so that was pretty neat. And with 84% of notes hit, which isn't too shabby for a first try! I have to say that I don't think I like this game as much as the previous ones. I don't know what it is, whether it's down to the fact that Harmonix are no longer involved but it seems to be missing the spark or something. I loved playing Izzy Sparks in GH2 because he was so funny to watch prancing up and down the stage but he doesn't do that any more. Whenever you go for Star Power, he does exactly the same thing each time which is so boring. I also really miss the being on fire bit, just getting a message that says '50/100/200 notes in a row' is hardly exciting. I actually find it quite distracting to be honest. I also think that the songs in this one are not as good. I mean, one of the songs I'd love to play is only available as a battle! I'll have to see if I can get GH2 and Rocks the 80s, because those were the ones I liked best.

I did get some reading done and actually I now have a new book to read at some point soon. The free copy of Baby Love: An Affectionate Miscellany from LibraryThing came which I wasn't expecting so soon. It's a large hardback book and has come all the way from the publishers in Kansas City. I've had a quick flick through it and the photos are quite stunning. There's hardly any text so it won't take long to read at all and then I can review it. The publisher has asked that I send them my feedback too which was a bit of a surprise. I don't know what they plan to do with it but I'll certainly let them have my thoughts.

So that was my weekend. The only real complaint I have is that it wasn't long enough. And that I have to go to work tomorrow.

how about that local sports team?, geeking about games, haircut, of books and comic books
