From
psychokitten76 and
lizzie9208 You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-word answers seldom help anyone out. :)
1. First Name:
Nathaniel. Never Nat, Nate, or Nathan - I don't think there's any other short form of it. I picked it myself and it became my legal name on June 17, 2005. (Three years ago! I can't believe it!) It's Hebrew and means 'Gift of God'. I like it :)
2. Age:
Old enough to know better, young enough not to care! I think ages are irrelevant. My birthday is March 6th though, feel free to put it in your diary and send me stuffs.
3. Location:
My current location is Boston, Massachusetts in America but generally I'm to be found in Lancashire, England. I live in a village with a population of about 30,000 which is about 15 minutes drive from the nearest town. It's quite rural, there's lots of woods and farms roundabout, but it's mainly a residential kind of area. It's very quiet really, not a great deal happens there.
4. Occupation:
I'm currently employed as a Trans Youth Support Worker for a non-profit organisation in Manchester. I started working there in April and basically I give online support and information to Trans Youth; it's the best job ever for me as it's something I've been doing on an unpaid basis ever since I came out! Unfortunately it's only part-time and only for 12 months but we'll see how it goes.
5. Partner?:
That would be
Michael. I found him on LJ as most Trans people do but got to know him through his online chat Yay for Queers. We rapidly became amazingly good friends and became known as the Two-Headed God because of our tendency to share a brain. Two years later, we finally met for the first time when I asked him to go to San Francisco with me and look after me once I'd had my top surgery. At that point, he we finally saw sense and we became a couple on March 27, 2005. As he lives in Boston and I live in Lancashire, we're currently in a long distance relationship, separated by an ocean and 3, 123 miles. Ish. Approximately. Give or take an inch.
6. Kids:
None that I know of yet!
7. Brothers/Sisters:
I have one younger sister called Apple - who recently joined LJ; her journal is
apple_piye and I'm sure she won't mind me telling you all to go and friend her. I also have two younger cousins brothers, although both are much taller than me, as is Apple, which is completely unfair.
8. Pets:
None currently! My last pet was a chinchilla called Frederick Bulsara, or Freddie for short, which I shared with my then partner. Poor Freddie died a few years ago after chewing on the power cable for the chest freezer...
9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
* My new job.
* My boyfriend and our ongoing relationship
* The novel I've been trying to finish for the past two and a half years
* My website which has just moved onto a new server and needs quite a drastic update
10. School:
I graduated from the
University of Central Lancashire in 1995 with a BA Honours in Linguistics with Media Technology. At the time I wanted to be a journalist but I failed to get on the post-grad journalism course. I'm still not sure what it is I do want to do but it'll probably involve writing in some form. I've been considering going to university in Boston and doing some form of post-grad course here, mainly so that I can spend good quality time with Michael instead of a couple of snatched weeks here and there, but also to get some kind of direction in my life in a work-respect. I'd love to go to Brandeis!
11. Parents:
My mother is Sheila. She's one of identical twins, her sister lives just round the corner so we have a rather close-knit family. Hence the cousins brothers I mentioned earlier. I happen to share my birthday with my mother which makes things interesting. She used to work as a classroom assistant and then a lunchtime supervisor but she's now retired and spends her days looking after my younger brother's two daughters.
12. Who are some of your closest friends?:
Both Michael and Apple are my best friends which makes me a very lucky boy.
None of my close friends live near me so that's sad but at least we have LJ and chat and e-mail. If I have to mention names, then you obviously don't know who you are!
