NaNoWriMo starts in 2 weeks. I don’t think I will be able to write 50k words this year but I do want to be involved and write something. I’ve been thinking that I would like to write more short stories so I could use NaNo for that, maybe one 1,000 word short story per day. 1,000 words sounds far more doable than 1,667! Hopefully that will give me some good ideas and/or starting points that I can turn into a better length later on. That then sparked a further idea which is to get you lovely people to suggest some prompts that I could use for those short stories. Fun!
So this is my plan:
- Firstly, you pick a date from 1 to 30.
- Secondly, you suggest prompts for it - such as a single word, multiple words, a character name, location, scenario, opening line, etc. You can suggest as many of those as you like for that date, e.g. 30th - character name: Richard, location: a diner, scenario: a break-up.
- Thirdly, I use those prompts to write a fic for each date, hopefully about 1,000 words for each one. 😰 They'll be original fics so please don't suggest fanfic prompts.
Thanks in advance! 🤗
