At the end of June, I did a post asking for people to pick one of the books from my random books folder for me to read. I ended up with 8 books, half of which I read in July. That left me with the following books, listed in order of selection:
Whatnots & Doodads by Stacey Kennedy
The Tavernier Stones by Stephen Parrish
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
You Don't Love Me Yet by Jonathan Lethem
I thought I could get them all read in August but it was a busier month than usual so I only read three. All the reviews are on Goodreads but I gave them the following ratings:
You Don't Love Me Yet - 2 stars
Whatnots & Doodads - 1 star
The Tavernier Stones - 2 stars
That was not a good run of books! Out of all 8 books, The Invisible Library that I read in July has been the best one so far. I gave that 4 stars while all the rest have only been 1 or 2 stars. It's a shame that I've had these books and waited to read them for so long and they've not really been worth it. Actually I only got The Invisible Library recently so it's interesting that that's been the best of the lot.
I started Graceling on Wednesday but I've only read the first few chapters. There's been a massive info dump in lieu of chapter 2 though so that was a bit off-putting. I hope that gets better, ideally something worthy of more than 2 stars!
