There are several ways to approach somebody with an apology, each way depending on the event that brought about the need for an offering of remorse in the first place.

Apologizing to your best friend because you ditched him in favor of female company would be quite different than apologizing to your girlfriend because you were caught being a bit too familiar with another woman.

[He thinks for a brief moment, trying to figure out the situation at hand. The young man was not going to tell him, and that was obvious, but his reaction was enough information. The first scenario, albeit plausible, would not solicit such a bewildered response.

[Really, Lelouch has had little to no experience as far as this is concerned, though he has had his fair share of problems with females.]

It seems that sort of behavior is typical. I would try talking to her again, and you may want to buffer the situation with a small gift... I believe that has worked for me in the past, though the circumstances were not exactly the same.

I was thinking something more... tangible. And easily acquirable.

Like, books. Or jewelry.
