[you are my sunshine]

Henrietta, I was talking to her on her porch about footballs when she said, "You know what? Everyone is normal from someone's perspective and everyone's home is someone's vacation spot and heaven is in that shovel in the back yard."

I never followed her but someday I'm sure it'll all make sense. She then went on about sunshine.

"I think I'm so short because I never got any sunshine growing up." Putting out her cigarette.

I said, "Well that's probably why I'm so tall, then. I was always in the sunshine."

"Nope. You're tall because your father was tall." She said this as if she's some exception to genetics, and the only reason she's 5'2" is because the sun didn't shine when she was growing up.

And me, I'm tall because I am a fucking Mendelian peapod.

"Henry, you're a wonder of the world."

She went on to explain how you could see the great wall of China from space, of course I already knew this but she explained anyway.

I just nodded and smiled at her. This was easy. Just nod and smile. And I'm sure she'll get her sunshine.
