One time in Mrs. Pitchford's class, Julie, Gonzalo and I did a play.
Western Europe
Julie: One of the seven continents of the world is Europe. It is one of the world’s largest landmasses. Sometimes, Europe is known as the “peninsula of peninsulas”. This name has been given to it because there are many peninsulas protruding out of it from the northwest and south. Scandinavia is a peninsula bordered by the Baltic, Norwegian and North Sea.
Gonzalo: From north southeast and west, the landforms of Europe are diverse. (Point on map) Europe is like a sideways sandwich. Mountains on two sides, and a rolling plain in the middle. The North Mountains run from Finland, Sweden, and Norway and the western part of the British Isles. These mountains were formed 400 million years ago. They have been ragged because of rain and snow. In southern Europe, the mountains are newer. They were just born 25 million years ago by the tectonic plates containing Africa.
Nithya: There are many major rivers in western Europe, ones that crisscross, ones that run straight, many! Two of the major rivers empty out into the Mediterranean Sea. One is the Po in Italy and one is the Rhone in France. Most of the soil is fertile and ranges more than 1,200 miles. The other flat lands are found in Scandinavia. There isn’t very good soil here though.
Julie: Let’s move on to Location and Climate. In some parts of Spain like Cartagena and Madrid, the climate is semiarid. In most of the rest of Spain, it is Mediterranean. Through France, Germany, Austria, Ireland U.K, Norway and parts of Iceland, it is Marine West Coast. In Sweden and a little of Finland it is Humid Continental. In the rest of Sweden and Finland, it is sub arctic. The winds that blow across the warm current are the prevailing westerlies.
Gonzalo: Most of the natural forests have been cut down in Western Europe. Most of the remaining land now is used for farming and grazing. Other things they are used for are pastures, orchards, gardens, and vineyards. A very scenic area is Germany’s Black Forest. There aren’t many places like these left. We need to preserve them.
I just updated for no reason. I'm becoming a live journal groupie. this must stop.
