What a day! After being sick for two weeks, it felt so strange to do so much stuff today. We went to IKEA and picked up the mirror that we have been longing to get for a couple of months now. We were so afraid that when we got there they would say that it will be another 3 weeks or something before it would arrive, but they actually had it! Yay! Can't wait to hang it tomorrow!
We searched all over the place for a pair of boots that my husband has been wanting with no luck. I'm thinking we should order them online, or else by the time we find them somewhere it won't be winter anymore.
We had lunch at a great little place at the shopping center today. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the exact name of it, but the menu includes asian quisine from India, to Thailand, to China, etc. I think there were 8 different countries represented there. I had sweet and spicy tofu, Thai style. My husband had a duck dish from Indonesia.
Right across the way there is a restaurant called Goa, which, of course, serves Goan specialties. My husband has yet to find any Indian food that he likes, so he is not the most enthusiastic about going there, but he did say that he would give it a try the next time we are out that way and feel like eating out. Yay!
During my two weeks sick at home, though I was miserable, I am kind of thankful for the time I had to myself. I was able to read a lot, think about God a lot, do a lot of nama japa and watch tons of Bollywood movies! ^_^ Yesterday, I finally ound "Dil Bole Hadippa!" with English subs online. I will admit that it was not quite as spectacular as I had thought it would be, but it was still great. It took me to the very end of the movie to kind of maybe understand the game of cricket though ^_^ Still not clear on what everyone one the field is supposed to be doing, but I think I've managed to grasp the main points. I recommend watching it if you have the chance. It is quite entertaining. :) I started watching the film "Kisna" yesterday evening, but had to stop midway when my husband got home. So far, it is wonderful. It is about a British woman who was born in India while it was still occupied. She and Kisna have a very tight bond as kids. Her father, who is a racist *insert bad word here*, doesn't like their friendship and sends her away. She comes back later as a young woman to visit right when England is being told to GET OUT! Then the adventure begins... I am going to watch the rest when I am finished here. If I have time, I will post it here when it is over. :)
And now, for some words of wisdom from the most wonderful Sri Sri Anandamayi Ma:
III
"Jeder Augenblick gehört Gott. Lass deinen Geist jederzeit auf Ihn gerichtet sein. Gott, der Ozean der Gnade, der die Welt immer segnet, schüttet Seine Gnade zu allen Zeiten aus. Der Mensch sollte alles, was geschieht, für das Beste halten: 'Für das Beste' bedeutet das, was am meisten zur Verwirklichung des Göttlichen beiträgt, zur Verwirklichung der Fülle an Glückseligkeit."
"Every second belongs to God. At every moment, let your mind/spirit be focused on Him. God, the ocean of mercy that the world always blesses, pours his mercy onto every time/place. People should accept everything that happens for the best: 'For the best' means that that which contributes to the realization of that which is God, contibutes to the realization of the abundance of happiness/bliss."
