For as long as I've known about Rocky Horror (which is also for about as long as I've been dating), I've had a thing for hot red-heads who play / have played Columbia (a visual preference I still seem to have ( Read more... )

I've had a very similar preference and experience in the past. Maybe this goes to show two things:

1. With just a few exceptions, "Columbias" are usually crazy, high-maintenance, and selfish.

2. What we think we want most is not neccesarily what's best for us.

There is much truth in your first point.

Though, I've got to say, the current line up of HoH Columbias seems fairly sane (then again, none of them are red heads...).

To your second point: What I wanted from most of the Columbias I'm thinking of was not something to base a long term relationship off of. So, I can't say as I'm surprised those relationships never lasted longer than it took for one or the other of us to get bored.

For the most part, the current line-up of HoH is the exception to many rules (including stereotypical Columbias). That's only one of many reasons why I think it's such a special group.

1. As a former Columbia, I attest to being crazy. I don't think that I am high-maintenance or selfish :) The three are not mutually exclusive. Some people are just attracted to crazy because crazy is fun... unfortunately it is also crazy.

Please note, there is a difference between crazy and psycho.

2. Very true!

Here here! To the people that make us better people!

One of the best things I ever did was marry a NON-rocky type. It let me realize that there is a lot more to me than my obsession. For a long time, Rocky was the only thing truly consistent in my life - I don't need RHPS for that now that I have my own family. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy RHPS and my Rocky family. Matt is about as far from who 20 year-old me ever would have seen myself ending up with. And I love him to pieces. :)
