Belated Holiday Greetings

Dec 30, 2007 04:59

Posting here has been in my thoughts quite a bit lately, I just haven't really had the energy to do so. Now let's see if I can remember everything that happened...

Birthday. Bleh. Party was okay. Since I don't go out any more, I wasn't really surprised by the low turnout. But the people that did show were entertaining enough that I didn't really notice. Sofia got hit on the entire time she was here by Scott. Smooth operator there, bud. Don't really blame him. She is super hot. Was sick the whole time, plus a week or so after. Very not cool. Everyone else seems to have survived it.

Scott gave me Superbad. Was hysterical. Holly gave me a new mp3 player, a snazzy 2gig iRiver T60, exactly what I wanted. Was a little bummed about only getting the 2gig model, but have yet to get around to filling it. Really, it's more than enough. Don't think I got anything else. I'm sure I got something from my mom but can't for the life of me think of what it is.

The weeks between my birthday and Christmas are rather vague. We'll skip those for now. If anyone can remind me what I did, please do so.

December 16th I was one of three people to show up for Amtgard. Three isn't enough, but it was a beautiful day so we putzed around for an hour or two. December 23rd was Amtgard Christmas. Sheriff Slarty and Mistril made me a new shield. Is much lighter than the one I've been using (and should have given away weeks ago, damned relics) so am very very happy. A lot more people showed up, including a ridiculous number of Querna Temans. I melted holes in my gloves. Christmas Eve, being a Monday, was my shift, but we closed at 4:30, so not really a big deal. I was supposed to count down the drawers to find a missing $50, but since I'm so used to doing it at eight, I forgot all about it and ended up staying until a quarter after six. While going through all the money I found an extra $1089 and decided to call it a night and let someone else figure it out. Then I had to call Krista for the new safe code.

Christmas was too long. Holly's Family gave me The Simpsons Movie, complete with tshirt I'll most likely never wear. My family does Secret Santa, I got my mom a bunch of smelly stuff in fragrances I know she likes, and her boyfriend Greg got me a new soldering iron and a set of helping hands with magnifying glass. He's pretty cool, a tech guy who listens to Bad Religion. I'm hoping I can fix my old mp3 player and give it to some deserving soul. It would make me happy to fix it, poor little thing.

After trying four times to purchase "Hindu Castes and Sects" (technically, I did buy it twice, I just never received it) I found it on Google Books in pdf format. Turns out the chapter I was interested in reading was only three short paragraphs long. Still, the rest of it is interesting. Google Books has quite a bit of stuff on the hindu caste system I've been looking for, and even newer books on the Thuggee. Is why I'm writing this at 4:30 AM and not at the more decent hours I've been keeping.

A gaggle of inebriated teenage coworkers came in tonight, including Krista. I am disillusioned. Oh well, maybe that damned crush will go away now. She tried to talk me into going back to the party with them. I wanted to spend time with Holly, so I turned her down, but Holly went to bed half an hour after I got home, so I've spent one more night alone on the computer.

I miss people. Need to get my license. Soon.

To close with, pictures of the pond, made small so as not to bog down n0mi's flist.
