I find myself using the computer less and less. I don't guess this is a bad thing, seeing as I used to be far to dependent on it, but I come back every once in a while and realize just how long it's been since I'd last been online. Eh. I just use it long enough to check my e-mail.
I have been having fun here, though. I feel just generally happier around here than I was back in the States, even though I miss people.
Kyudo is going well. Whitney and I were the first ones of our group to be allowed to practise with a real bow as opposed to the rubber band thing we would normally use. It was kind of funny--neither of us were really sure what to do with it. You go from doing all the kata with the little light dinky thing to trying to do the same movements with something that's longer than you are tall. We had to learn all the correct placements of the bow. The bow isn't really heavy, but the balance is definitely different.
We went to Studio Ghibli yesterday. It was quite amazing, although I doubt I could describe it well. I've never been that good with words. We did see Miyazaki-san, though. Hee. We were also the first people to see part of Howl's Moving Castle, which won't be released until the end of November. But I plan on going to see it--who knows when it'll be released in the US.
I have finally figured out the key to dressing fashionably here. I was headed to Ginza last week, and Katie and I learned the hard way you do not want to be in that area if you aren't dressed well. So that morning, with Japanese fashion in mind, I surveyed my wardrobe and wondered what exactly I could put together that would make me look like I just stepped out of a movie based in 1986. So I wore knee-high black boots, striped black hose, a (way too short) black-and-white plaid skirt, and a bulky red sweater than David obviously thought looked ridiculous, judging by the way he made fun of it. And I received more compliments on the outfit than I have on anything else I've ever worn. Hmm.
Anyway. I guess that's it. You'll have to deal with no more randomness from me today. Except you, David. Sorry.
