Name: Eianna
Class: Wizard Last played at level 19
Race: Avariel Elf
Chaotic Good female age 110.
Eianna was my first ever D&D character. I played her much like myself, shy and crafty, quiet unless provoked, powerful yet didn't show it on the surface. She had purple hair that was rather long. Though an avariel elf she didn't have the ability to fly. She was born with non functioning wings and therefore exhiled by the colony. She sought comfort in adventuring. She adventured solo for a short time before meeting up with the party that the campaign was based on.
Her familiar's name was Tasia. A black cat with incredible attitude. She talked....boy did she talk. My DM (who later became my fiance and is still my DM) played Tasia to help me as a beginner character, giving me something to play off of that was relatively easy. Tasia had a fondness for rats and fish and did everything to get her hands well....paws on them........even in the middle of battle. And Eianna being the pet lover she was would chase after Tasia regardless of the Giant Alligator (that was later turned into an undead raft for the party) that they were fighting. Tasia would say, "OOOOooooOOOO looook!!! Thats a fat rat over there!" Eianna would beg her to stay by her side and she'd refuse wiggle her butt ready to pounce and be off.
Eianna's favorite spell was Flesh to Stone (lvl 6) Which as I recall never worked even once. She tried it every chance she could, with the hope it would work and she could run away. She even tried it on a Dragon once. That adventure sucked :( Though had the most memorable role play from it.
You see during the battle Eianna was burnt to a crisp and died. After the Dragon was slain the party began to True Resurrect each one of the party members that had died, including my character Eianna and my friend Jame's character Bork the Explorer. Eianna freaked out when she came to. Lying naked on the floor since all her clothes and possessions were burnt, she cried and screamed in hysterics about how she didn't know where she was, one minute she was fighting the next she was floating in this odd space. Bork put on a hat of disguise and stripped off his clothes so that Eianna could wear them (Bork was killed by other means then by breath weapon).
She sniffled and whimpered as she put on his clothes then stood and thanked him and mumbled about how its sad she didn't do well in the battle. Bork, who was a sorcerer, had failed almost each of his spells on the dragon and told Eianna she wasn't alone. They hugged and so did Tasia and Bork's familiar a little lizard. It was classic. Though the rest of the group didn't even realize we were roleplaying it out because they were too hooked on the treasure. The DM noticed and awarded us with extra XP for not forgetting to roleplay.
By the end of the champaign it was about two years (real time) later and Eianna had her own little cottage on a cliff where she baked cookies. She had surgery done on her wings so she was able to fly for the first time. I think she was a pretty kick butt first character.
Are I smarty enough to play D&D?
I started playing in 2003 when I went away from home for college. I'm originally from a suburb of Chicago and moved out to Iowa City to attend the University of Iowa. I met my gaming group by hanging out with them after classes outside of one of the dorm halls. I never knew they were gamers until one friday night I was bored and asked them at dinner what they were up to. "Oh its game night. You can come and watch if you want, though you'll probably not understand it. Wait do you D&D?" I was like do I waaaaa? They told me to just come and watch.
I was hooked into the story telling. I have a very over active imagination so I practically layed on the ground with my eyes closed listening and seeing the story unfold. I was slightly confused with combat, still am at times. I didn't understand how rolling a die could determine much of anything. But once a character sheet was introduced to me a little light went on.
With in about a month's time of watching them play every Friday I became the only girl in thier group. There was Nathan the DM, Charles, Dan, James, John and some other guy (he wasn't really a friend of the group just a player). I could tell there was a bit of uneasiness with having a girl play especially one that was interested in the DM (btw using nookie as a lever for XP does not work). But I tried to be cute and "one of the guys" while playing and everything became right with the world.
Nathan, Dan and I still game together, with the addition of a couple new players. We normally play every Monday night, but lately Nathan has taken a break from writing D&D to complete the writing on his novel so we haven't played in a while. I was feeling nostalgic for the game so felt the need to talk on this Monday about what got me started.
