Thank You For An Awesome Game!

Recently, at the conclusion of the Slayers East game that has been chronicled in exhaustive detail over on gametime_nz, the players surprised me with a thank-you scrapbook. It included photos and messages from the players, all assembled into a neat scrapbook with lotsa cool little touches. Also, a blank spread in which I can add my own message.

It is quite the most wonderful thank-you I've ever received for running (or playing) a game.* It reminds me of the time, many years ago, on a big sleepover youth groupy thing, I ran a short game for some guys and girls and at the end one girl came over and said "thanks, that was really fun", and gave me a big hug. And that was neat, too, because I'd never had a thank you like that before.

What are some of the notable thank yous you've come across in your gaming? Do you make a point of saying thanks to the others in your group? What are the social norms in your gaming circles about saying thanks?

* I also received a wonderful thank-you book with photos from the ORC crew, but that was for rather more than just running a game...
