001 - Ave Mathematica.

Jul 14, 2013 09:30

It's the first week of class and I'm already regretting my decision to accept this position. Of my students, precisely none of them are science majors. I'm not sure who/what I pissed off to get a classroom full of literature and economics students, but I feel as if I need to sacrifice a goat or something to Mathematica in apology. The lit students can't properly spell 'quantum mechanics' and the econ students can't do basic computations. If something as basic as -2.3 x 1013 is a problem, what the hell are they going to do once we get to things that require grade school algebra?

Their scholarship (or rather, the lack thereof) reflects poorly on the professors in their programs.

argh, class, why me
