Another Complication
Jay's former captain on the Buckley was corrupt. He had a deal with the station director to siphon off some of the supplies and expensive scientific equipment the Buckley brought in exchange for money and exotic luxury goods to pay off his various cronies. When Captain Tarvel dies in the Buckley disaster, the 'third party' goes to deal directly with the station director. He needs certain things to satisfy his own customers, and now he needs it directly from the director.
When the director finds out about Jay, he gets these space pirates to hunt and kill him after the previous attempts do not work. This is how Jay finally gets off the planet: aboard their small ship.
OR
Someone else on the station becomes aware of Jay's existance. He/she is moved by compassion to help him, but finds the way blocked. The station only has one main shuttle and taknig it without being caught should be very difficult.
They can, however, communicate with Jay via radio.
