he said that he would stay forever, forever wasn't very long

Okay. This is a dream I had last January, after a long night of staying up late and watching hours upon hours of anime. However, that is no excuse for how it turned out, only my own bizarre mind can be blamed for that. *smirk*

Here's how it goes: I'm living in a weird dream-city that has been making appearances in my dreams ever since I was very young. In this dream, the city is in a panic because babies and young children are disappearing from all over and no one knows who the culprit is. At the same time, a group of militant Republican survivalists who live in an isolated "secret" compound outside of the city are starting to make noise about an invasion and generally rattle their saber at the city government. Things are so tense that I decide I need to relax by going to see a new comedy that's just opened at the local movie theatre. Unfortunately, everyone else in the city has had the same idea and by the time I get there the movie is sold out. So I buy a ticket for the next showing, which doesn't happen for another three hours or so.

I sit down in the lobby to wait. Soon I notice a group of teenage boys sitting on the other side of the lobby, playing a card game. Curious, I wander over to see what they're playing, and if I can join it. They say of course I can, and I sit down to join the next game. However, I get incredibly confused by the game (which seems to be Magic: The Gathering played with a standard 52-card deck) and just can't catch on to how it works. I can tell that we're all getting frustrated, so I excuse myself, leave the theatre, and walk over to the mall that's next door to do some window shopping.

I walk around the mall for a little while without seeing anything too interesting - that is, until I get to one of the farthest-away wings. There, I notice a new store that seems to have just opened, selling games and gifts and other stuff (kind of like a Spencer Gifts and a gaming store and a clothing store all rolled into one). Trouble is, this store has the same name as the group of militant Republican survivalists! Infuriated, I march into the store to tell the owner that I think his store name is in bad taste.

To my astonishment, the owner turns out to be one of my friends from college, ruben_shay. I don't tell him off, but I do say that I think the store name is a bad idea because the Republicans will probably be offended by it and do something bad. He assures me that nothing is going to happen, that it will all be okay. Realizing there's nothing I can do to dissuade him, I leave.

Unfortunately, he's wrong. Sure enough, a few days later the militant Republican survivalists come to ruben_shay's new store. They interrogate him for awhile, then kill him by slitting his throat. I'm not actually present for this but in my dream I see it all, cinematic-style. Of course this pisses me off to no end, and I decide to avenge his death. I gather up a plucky team of misfits, hop in my mom's car, and set out for the militant Republican survivalists's compound outside the city with plans to burn it to the ground.

At this point in time the dream becomes really jumbled and confusing and not nearly as interesting. I think that what we were doing got a little jumbled up with roleplaying because I remember stopping a few times in the dream to roll dice first to see if I could do something. I also remember one of the people on my team spontaneously Awakening and blasting the crap out of some Republicans with a big blue ball of energy. The one thing I *definitely* remember is busting into the compound in search of the head Republicans so we could kill them. We round a corner and in front of us we see a large cinderblock wall with dead babies and small children stapled all over it in various artistic poses. A plaque designates it as a sacred mural and the most prized possession of the militant Republican survivalists. Disgusted, we burn the compound to the ground and go home (rolling dice to see if we can cross a rope bridge and escape from a bear trap first).

Ha. Analyze THAT, if you can.
