Okay, last time I'm going to post about this, I promise:
Almost exactly one week from now, Space Oddity Music Club & Brew Pub will open its doors. We're still looking for a few more people to donate (6, to be exact) to make a monetary contribution to the party to help us pay for the room and buy everything we need to make the fun times happen. If you can afford to help out, you can paypal a contribution to belovedporcupine@gmail.com or hit me up at the con itself. We're also really grateful to the people who've donated already (it's been a better response than we've ever received before!); Space Oddity literally could not happen without them. Thanks to everyone for helping us out, and for putting up with my recurrent nagging about the party. I hope to see many of you at the con!
Eventually there will be real content here again, but not right now; I'm even more busy now than I was the last time I posted to tell you how busy I was. There's been MarsCon preparation, of course, and we're celebrating
dayzdark's birthday on Saturday so I've been getting that together, and I'm also meeting up with my high school friend Liz and her husband Anthony (who I haven't seen since their wedding in 2008) tomorrow night to catch up and have dinner while they're in town. All of which will be very fun.
But more pressing than any of that was that last Wednesday
the_bugglewump's father passed away rather unexpectedly. The funeral is tomorrow and I'm taking the day off work to sing and play guitar at the service, and just to help the family out with anything they need at this difficult time. So, preparing the music for that has been taking up a lot of my free time lately, and I'm glad that I can be there to help (and that my brain has retained a dizzying arsenal of old, appropriate hymns for an occasion such as this, as well as the ability to sight-read and learn other music quickly). I don't know at all what to say at a time like this to make things any better or any easier, because there is nothing to say that will do that - but I'm hoping that through music and through just being there, I can help
the_bugglewump and his family to get through it all.
