Humbled

Jun 25, 2010 20:37

It looks as though I am going to be making several zillion LiveJournal posts tonight, and for that I apologize in advance. This, however, deserves to be its own thing.

The brainstorming poll (effectively a shortlist) for the 2010 Pegasus Awards made its way to the Internet today. (For those who are not aware, the Pegasus is an award for excellence in filk music, voted on by members of the filk community and awarded at Ohio Valley Filk Festival each year) I was stunned to discover that my name appears on it no less than seven times - nods for "Blue Horizon," "Heavy As Stone," "Keeper," "Princess," and "Underneath The Mask" as Best Song, and (perhaps most astonishingly) as Best Composer and Best Performer.

For me it is truly an honor just to be mentioned in this context. I've worked hard and struggled for a long time building up my confidence and my skill at what I do, and it means more to me than you can possibly know for at least one person out there to think that what I do is worthy of recognition by my community. I am grateful today to all of the people who have listened and believed in me and given a chance. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna be over there, blushing.
