Overall I enjoyed the show and found it to be worth the not insubstantial amount of money I paid for it. My seat was good and the audience was okay with the exception of the two very drunk women next to me who spent the entire show alternately texting people and screaming. Melissa Ferrick was also awesome. The thing that made me the happiest is that although, yes, Ani is writing baby songs now, they don't suck. This is very heartening when you consider that so many other female singer/songwriters have veered off into suckiness after popping out a kid (Dar Williams I'm looking at you, Tori you get a pass for now because your last album was actually good), or in the case of Kate Bush just stop making music at all. In fact, the only sucky song I heard all night was "The Atom" which is probably just my personal objection to preachy, earnest, anti-technology songs speaking. It was reminiscent of another song I can't listen to, "The Great Unknown" by Dar Williams, which sends me into a blind and impotent rage every time I hear it (not at the subject matter of the song, but at the singer herself - every time I hear the line "I'm just trying to put the atom back together" it seriously makes me want to snap the CD in half, which is why I've had to remove it from all playlists I possess). I would also have really loved to hear "Shameless", which she played on almost every prior show of the tour, but not this one. Poop. Anyway, good show, and I'll definitely be back to another one in the future.

I'm feeling nice and relaxed now and am looking forward to playing Mage tonight. Yay weekend!

ETA: And also, I feel embarrassed for asking this, but will somebody please send me an MP3 of "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey? It is for Supernatural soundtrack purposes and indulging my terrible taste in music. belovedporcupine at gmail dot com
