now i'm a longtime gamer with a library holding everything from digdug to liberty city stories and political nut with an extremely liberal sentiment. so i do agree with you. kinda.
i mean you're right. mostly. cept for the part where you generalize the inner sentiments of a huge number of people in the world with one swift keystroke. not every cop has a god complex. not every cop is a heartless egomaniac. yes, there are those who are, from traffic cops to police chiefs, but that group doesn't give you justification to ignore the emotions of the rest of them - the good cops. these are the guys that risk life and limb every day, either behind a desk or on a cop chopper, protecting the peaceful citizens from those that would do them harm. they don't get paid well, and they don't get a lot of thanks from the people they protect or serve. but they go out and do it every day.
now whether or not your angsty self resents authority in any form, a great many of us appreciate what they do for us, and feel that the least we can do is to give them respect. We can do this by not actively advocating any harm to them.
you wanna buy the game? fine then go ahead. you think parliament is childish for even raising the issue? ok, it's your opinion. but man, don't go belittling the good with the bad in some kneejerk reaction.

Whoa whoa whoa. Law ENFORCEMENT was not my issue at all. Law enforcement is a position than CAN be abused, of course, but it is not the answer-to-no-one egofest that lawmaking itself is.
Politics is a dangerous and wholly unregulated weapon. People in the position to CREATE laws to be enforced act on self-preserving paranoia.
Go back ten years to Ice-T. When actual charges were brought up against him and his music, it wasn't just the fact that his song was offensive to Police (which it easily was.) He was accused of SEDITION and INCITING OVERTHROW OF THE GOVERNMENT. Honest-to-God sedition for a bloody rap song.
It's the same reason that state militias are the demonized presence that they are. The innate purpose of a civilian militia is the capacity to operate outside of the government should it ever demand resistance or overthrowal.
The capacity to unite and resist a corrupt government, even it it should be our own, is the foundation of the constitution. The people have forgotten that, but lawmakers are always well aware of it, and they're constantly fearful of the very thought.
I am sorry for the misunderstanding. Still, kneejerk or not, it does you no good to take jabs at my 'angsty self' in an otherwise respectful exchange.
