Wouldn't be that exciting to watch him debate JT, JT's tactics are asinine and redundant. It'd be like reading any other JT rant: demonize, quote nonexistant sources, and Jesus loves me.

By all means though, it'd be a good thing to have a debate- one more nail in JT's coffin.

You'd think, but I feel like it'd be like the Kerry Bush Debates all over again.

Well isn't that good to know. That definitely would be an interesting debate, I think I know who would win :p

Also, this is somewhat interesting, because in the comments section of the article on the pol-sci professor who's been bagging games, someone was talking of making a gamers association who tries to promote gaming in society, and suggested that a lawyer for the organisation might be a good idea, this might be the guy for that organisation :P or if he doesn't specialise in that area, perhaps he could point us in the right direction.

Well i don't think anyone would win the debate, the second JT started to lose he would probably plug his book, do a Cartman impression aka "Screw you pixelantes I'm going home", and then run like Satan himself was at his heels.

Tom Buscaglia vs. JT cubesquared December 6 2005, 14:41:51 UTC
Unfortunately, we know EXACTLY how that debate would go. JT would go full blown into ad hominem attacks against our hero Buscaglia; after all, he is a gamer. Don't forget, he's probably also some sort of racial minority, and has listened (or even *gasp* participated in) to rock and roll in the past; in JT's books, this man is clearly the devil.

I say rock on. I love this guy already.

I was surprised that his first reaction to the "game industry is under attack by certain people" question was to bring up Jack Thompson. That was obviously what the interview was getting at, but I'd have expected a broader addressing of the anti-game lobby before getting into specifics.

I'm wondering how accurate the "really sad thing about him is that he has been pretty much a laughing stock in the Legal Community in South Florida for years" comment is, though - while I wouldn't be surprised if it was true, I'm also hesitant to take this guys word on the general concensus of the entire S.FL legal community alone, since he's on the polar opposide side of the debate from Jack.

This guys is also a Miami-based lawyer, just like Thompson. Thompson is also well known in the Miami legal circuit. He brought up Thompson's crusade against 2 Live Crew, not just video games, so it appears as if JT's crusading has had a real impact on his social standing in the legal community. Plus, with all the hype Thompson's been doing, why wouldn't he bring up JT?

You cannot fault a man who is trying to stand up for video games to take a sling at our most vocal (if ineffective) opponent. Just mentioning JT's name negative earns him brownie points, so it does not surprise me. However, if he's smart, any statements he makes will be well-founded, lest they get out amongst the Miami legal brethren.

I'm not criticizing the guy for bringing up Thompson, just pointing out that I'd have expected a broader overview of his opposition before getting onto Jack specifically. Overall, I think he seems pretty cool and looks like he'd be a pretty decent guy to hang out with, going by the extremely friendly vibe I'm getting from that photo and his language (lawyer-y though it may be).

I'm just saying, you can't automatically assume someone to be on the straight and narrow just because they're on your side in a debate - especially when they're talking about the Other Side.

You have a good point, but I think that, overall, JT is the most vocal and insane of the "anti game" groups, and since there both lawers, theres more of a direct comparision for him in that regard. You do make a point, but this man doesn't concern himself with the legal issues as far as legislation goes. He lets Blank Rome, who so far has a perfect record in that regard.

I think he's still pretty awesome, I don't think his view is narrow, I think it's specific to his experiance. Since he's a florida lawyer, he has more direct info from the legal community of his area, which I have heard from friends, hates JT almost as much as we do
