Has it finally happened?

Have we become a parody of ourselves? Schmarmy and close minded within our open mindedness? Chanting the same battle cry over and over, though we know nobody is listening? Could you expect them to? It's become so passe and meaningless. The same words, the same sounds, the same voices perpetually groaning in unison.

For this is not what we asked for... but indeed it is. We may not have asked for it by name, or with words. But our actions or lack thereof have made it so. We can all sit back and stew in our discontent, and talk about how unfair life is, but we chose the hard road. We chose to do it differently. And when you choose a different path, you inevitably choose a harder path. I will not refer to it as the road less travelled, for plenty have been down it, and everytime a different outcome. For every path seems to split in an infinite number of directions, sometimes leading us back to the beginning again. Perhaps after walking a circle we should not travel that path again, for we know where it leads.

So you may continue to think you are different, that you are above everything encountered by others. You may in fact be, but chances are the opposite is true. We can all say all we like, pounding out these ridiculous messages on our keyboards, spreading our words through electronic means, digital means. But the analog of our actions is the only thing that can truly propel our meanings. You can't just speak it, you must in fact live it.

We seem to live our lives on a separate plain from what actual life is. Escapism at it's finest, and easiest. But we did not choose the easy way. We chose the difficult one, the one that satisfies through the effort transcribed into life. The lives we seem to refuse to live in any sort of way. We curl up and spew our dissatisfaction across the digital plain, without ever doing anything to correct that which causes the dissatisfaction.

There is a loophole for everything. But we lack the effort to find the loophole. Perhaps we are not revolutionaries, perhaps we are just a product of laziness, mistaken for the revolution.

Hypocritical? Perhaps. But hypocrisy is sometimes a necessity.
