...I'm shocked, seriously. All my close friends knew I really liked him and knew I had managed to score tickets to his London O2 concerts.
A cousin of mine first called my mother to tell her and she switched channel to sky news and shouted on me to watch...I turned my head and my jaw just dropped at the headline. I watched diligently, just kept watching...hoping that the constant "unconfirmed" reports would turn out false..
Alas that was not the case, to be honest I feel like crying and yet I don't.. I probably will next time I'm alone and play his songs again.
I've been getting text after text as if I'd just lost a family member...
The greatest concert I'd ever experience..and it ain't gonna happen. The greatest music performer ever..(yeah yeah I know theres Elvis and the beatles etc..) is no longer with us.
He gave us fan-fucking-tastic songs such as Thriller, Beat it, Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel..the kinda stuff you just can't help but tap your feet or dance to.
Then of course there's the Jackson 5 stuff such as I'll Be There, ABC, Ben, Who's Loving You...
No matter how much of a freak you think he was...you can't deny he damn well knew how to put on a show, and released some of the greatest stuff in music history, and will be around for decades to come, and well deserved.
I for one will never forget you, and wil continue to listen to your songs.
