The list of perpetrators was quite a shocker. In addition to Dayfell, leader of the Sidhe during the Accordance war, there were two other Gwydions: Duke Dray and Rual. Some other important leaders were also on the list, like Vogon ap Ailil and the historian Count Lagarri ap Eilunid. And the rest, Alexandria ni Fiona (Dayfell's protégé), Selim, Delana ni Dougal, and Cerendarial ni Eilunid, were non-trivial political advisors as well. Corel was shocked, and wrote down the list for later. He then suggested that he and Calypso get some sleep, as it had been a long night.

They woke up later in the morning and, on their way down to breakfast, ran into Auralia and Edan, who were waiting for them. Auralia demanded they go out to McDonald's for breakfast, so, with some persuasion, the group did so. There, they discussed Corel's current activities in Washington, and, though the others wanted to know why he returned, Corel deferred the answer of that question until later.

As they left, Calypso dodged out of the way of a dagger that had been thrown at her. Corel chased off after the attacker as Auralia got him to stop with Dictum. They caught up with the assassin, who turned out to be an Eshu mercenary. He was initially more than a little hesitant to give any information, and after a few punches to the face from Corel failed to convince him to give some information, a Dictum from him did. The Eshu had supposedly been hired by Count Lagarri to deal with Calypso. He was to meet his contact later that night at Berkeley, to be paid. Corel went off to call the Court of Carmel to get the Eshu arrested, while Edan and Auralia discussed with him the ethics of his choice of vocation. Eventually, guards showed up, and returned the Eshu to the Court, and the four of them returned to the Freehold.

While there, Corel quickly wrote a note to Aelan, with his real name and at his parents' house, containing the list of all the people Calypso had listed. They then found someone to use Metamorphosis on Corel, so he could pretend to be the Eshu for the meeting, and went off to Berkeley for the 7 o'clock meeting.

Eventually, a female Sidhe showed up and approached Corel. He claimed to have completed his objective, but, because he could not produce proof thereof, was only given half the agreed upon payment. This was enough for Corel to arrest her, so he did so. She explained she was to go meet Count Lagarri after the meeting so, having no better option, Auralia Dictumed her to stay put, while she, Edan and Corel set off to get Lagarri. As they left, Edan text-messaged his resistance contacts to come pick up the Sidhe, as she seemed mercenary enough she might work for them.

They arrived at his house, also a freehold, and, having no better option, went up and knocked on his door. He opened it and invited them inside. They held him in casual small talk about his history studies, including Corel asking about this history of the Night of Iron Knives, before confronting him about the assassination. He seemed, to Edan, generally surprised about this, so they decided he was likely not guilty thereof. Corel then told him that he was still under arrest, for crimes he knew. This revealed, after a moment, his guilt to Edan and Auralia, that Lagarri had been responsible for the Night of Iron Knives.

As they went to return to where they had left the contact, Auralia noted that she had broken the Dictum. Corel ran back, as Edan texted his friends to abort, but even by the time Corel arrived she was gone. Corel asked Edan and Auralia to take Lagarri back to Court, but Auralia, at her and Edan's insistence, went with Corel instead, who was chasing after a Will-o-Wisp. Edan called his friends to confirm they had not yet picked up the Sidhe, and then had them set up a tribunal of their own to try Lagarri.

After Corel realized the Wisp was heading to the highway, he got the number of the local Red Branch agent in San Francisco, who agreed to track down the missing Sidhe (whom she recognized as Lady Meredith ni Eilunid, a figure at Caer Redwood). Corel then hired a cab to take him and Auralia back to the Court of Carmel. By the time they arrived, obviously, Edan had not returned, so Corel called him to find out where he was. He said he had been delayed, but that Corel couldn't help, and he'd be back in a few hours. Corel, having no reason to suspect otherwise, accepted Edan's answer at face value.

Meanwhile, Edan brought Lagarri to a safe house of the resistance, where he was tried (after his own admission) for his role in the Night of Iron Knives. Edan, acting as defense counsel, tried to get Lagarri to reduce his sentence by admitting who else was involved, but Lagarri was unwilling to let Concordia be thrown into chaos by doing so. Instead, Edan crafted a deal whereby Lagarri would plead guilty in real court to his crimes, and request the harshest punishment (rather than getting killed by the resistance then). Everyone satisfied, Edan brought Lagarri to the Court of Carmel, and called Corel to tell him he was there.

Corel asked where Edan had been, and Edan requested Corel come so Edan could tell Corel in private. Corel did so, though Auralia insisted on coming with him. When he did, though, Edan was unwilling to offer specifics other than that he had to take care of something. This upset Corel, who went to ask Lagarri what had happened. Lagarri, however, had been forced to swear not to say, and thus refused to say anything. Corel returned, and demanded Edan tell him; when again Edan did not, Corel attempted to dictum the Scathach. Edan, through both his own force of will and his banality, managed to resist, and warned Corel if he tried that again that Edan would challenge him to the Dance Macabre. Corel countered that, if Edan would not tell him, he would be forced to place him under arrest for obstruction of justice. Edan swore an oath not to tell and Corel proceeded to make good on his threat and arrest Edan.

Corel then went to Countess Charlotte to explain what was going on. While she was disappointed that Edan had to be arrested, she seemed to understand Corel had no other choice. After Corel explained things to her, he got a text message from Ananda, consisting of four letters: RStd. Realizing she had been arrested, he decided he had to return to Washington quickly. With Charlotte's help, he hired another Eilunid who Flicker Flashed him (with Auralia, Edan, and Lagarri) to Tara-Nar, and then Flicker Flashed him to DC, where he could, hopefully, mount a rescue.
