Dream Office Hours, 5/03

May 03, 2006 09:01

The professor has packed all but a few of his dearest books, and he seems to be deep in conversation with his raven as he waits for any students who may need last-minute help with their final projects, or who may wish to talk to him for other reasons.

He will be in his office all day.

Sometime after waking up with Callisto, Angel decided to see Dream.

He knocked on the office door.

Dream waved a hand, and Matthew flew out the window, perching in a tree outside the school.

"Enter," he called to Angel.

[OOC: On SPO today, okay?]

Angel came in. He looked around uncertainly. "I wanted to talk to you about something."

Dream cocked an eyebrow. After seeng Angel's nightmares, he had been half-waiting for a return visit. "That does not surprise me."

He gestured to the chair opposite his desk. "Please, sit, and I expect you wish to close the door."

Angel closed the door. He remained standing, mostly because he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with himself.

"Why are you sending me nightmares?" he asked, his tone curious and not accusatory.

Dream steepled his fingers. "I have sent you nothing since detention. Your dreamworld of late has been your own, largely."

His chin came forward to rest on the tips of his hands.

"It has been ... interesting, hasn't it?"

"In the Chinese curse sense, yeah," Angel agreed. He finally sat down, perching on the edge of the chair with his hands steepled in front of him.

Dream carefully inspected the vampire. His gaze might make Angel uncomfortable as he reached into his corner of the Dreaming.

He hesitated before saying anything. Some truths were better not to speak.

But Angel had asked for his help. "Have you considered that these may not be nightmares, but visions?"

"I don't get visions," Angel said, thinking of Cordy.

Then he thought about the First. "At least, not as a rule."

"So you have done so before," Dream pointed out.

He shrugged lightly. "I can never be entirely certain. The future is not mine to see. That gift belonged to -- someone else. But my sense is that these are truths, if not from your past or future, than from another world."

Angel looked down at his hands. "This is what's going to happen to me, isn't it? That's what I'm seeing."

"It may be," Dream said calmly. "It may not be. The future is written in smoke and water; until a thing comes to pass, it can be changed or avoided."

"I was told everyone who helps me ends up dying or wishing they had," Angel said. "Do you know if that's true?"

Dream waved a hand through the air. "I wish I did. I know that in the reality your dreams draw from, it is something that you believe. Whether it is something that must happen in this world is not something that I can tell you."

"How about one dimension over?" Angel asked, wryly. But he knew Dream couldn't answer that either. "Any idea how I can make these dreams - visions - stop?"

Dream thought for a moment. "Have you ever practiced meditation? Try meditating on what your dreams show you. It may show you a path."

"The important thing to do is not to run from them, though. That will only worsen the situation."
