Student expectations
Daily vocabularly quizzes. 25%
Ten questions every quiz. Longer translations as the semester progresses.
Class participation. 25%
Class participation is a must in any language class. You learn to speak by speaking.
Monthly tests (includes final exam). 40%
Tests will include vocabulary, translations, and cultural questions. Do not ask me "Will this be on the test?" The answer will always be yes.
In-class presentations. 10%
There will be two in-class presentations per semester regarding some aspect of culture or history in the language family you're studying. The first may be in your native language; the second should be at least 50% in one of the languages you're studying.
Open lab. Most of the time, this will be free time for tutoring and more detailed discussion of subjects skimmed over in class. Periodically we will do special events, such as screen movies, put on presentations, or have guest speakers.
Make-up and extra credit: Under extenuating circumstances only. I expect you in class, prepared.
In-class behavior: You will be respectful of each other. You will not cheat. (I'm the lord of all dreaming. I know things.)
